There it was. All in ruins, everything they had held dear. They're homes, their families, their friends. Nothing was left standing after the last attack by Kerrigan. The survivors were few, a few dozen at best. Even then, they knew their fate, they'd die like so many others. If they were lucky, if they weren't made to join the swarm. The skies were red that day, and blood stained the land. They were hungry, weary, and running short of supplies. "Look! Out to the west!"A man screamed. To the west, there was some dirt flying up, and some figures on the distance. They were coming in fast. They were up in the sky too. These weren't Kerrigan's though, no, she wouldn't send so few. Besides, those weren't Zerg in the sky, those were ships. Good old Terran ships. As they drew nearer, they realized who it was. It was Jim Raynor, everyone had heard he was alive still. But nobody really believed it, until now. With him came the one thing these people needed most: Hope. He was one of the few to survive the battle of Auir, and if the rumors were true then he had some Protoss with him. When he pulled up, he got off his vulture and called something into a transmitting device, and seconds later several dropships landed in the vicinity."Well know, whatcha folks waitin' for? Get on in before they get back."He didn't say it as harsh as one would expect from a veteran of so many battles, there was a sort of compassion in his voice we hadn't heard from officials before. Especially none so legendary as Raynor. The colonists boarded the ships, and they took off immediately afterwards. They flew off to the west, just as they had come. After about an hour, they reached a sort of mountainous region. They were prompted to get off, and did so without question. They were led to a place in the mountains, through a series of tunnels. When they reached the base, Raynor divided them."Alright now, all those fit to fight to the right. The elderly, the sick, and the crippled, go down the tunnels to the left. Make yourself comfortable, we'll be here awhile." As those who were sent away left, Raynor became more serious, not cold, but hard."Alright men, you saw what those things can do. You've seen how destructive they are, and you've seen that they can be killed. What you may not know right now though is this: We are it. There is nobody else out there as far as we can detect. No Terrans. No Protoss. Nothing but Zerg out there. You are being called upon to fight, not just for your lives, and not just for the well being of this colony, but for the fate of humanity. Terran and Protoss alike are counting on us. I won't force you to fight. But if you don't, then we all lose that much faster. We need all the men we can get right now. Everyone strong enough to use a gun and willing to fight will become a soldier. This will be dangerous, many of us will die. But if we don't fight now, many more will die. With that said, all of you who are willing to fight for us go to the hall down the right. Our current troops will arm you, and your training will begin. Those of you who won't fight, go down the left."Nobody went to the left, they all went to the right.
