Stepping through the gate, you enter onto the street. A sign informs you that it's Nathan Avenue. To your left, there's a medical center and Lindsey Street. You can't see far down the street you're on, but the right leads down a steep hill into a lake.

Eric fishes through his bag for the printout with the bank address - the town wasn't on Mapquest or any of the equivalents, but at least he has the street address. Well, if he can find it.
"Okay, we're at Nathan and Lindsey... now to find that bank."
Perception for both getting his bearings and for investigating the surroundings: 8,5,5,10,5 -> TN 5 -> 5 successes!

Eric hears a distinct flapping sound above the group, amidst the otherwise silent town.

Eric looks up from digging through his stuff. All the way up.

"Hoooooly shit."
Eric points at the thing, and says "Please - tell me I'm the only one seeing that. I'd rather just be tripping."
Whereabouts is it in terms of altitude? 100 feet? Right above our heads? Really fucking high?

Stephan looks up and goes for his left leg, grabbing a throwing knife.
It's about twenty feet up. You can only make out a vague shape at this distance.

Eric looks at the knife in his hand, then back up at the thing.
Even if I can make the distance, there's no way in hell I'm hitting it point on.[/i]
"We've got to get inside, come on!"
Eric looks for the nearest door, grabs his stuff and starts running.

The nearest door leads into the clinic, and is out of sight for you, but not all that far.

"Hey look, I think we found dinner."
Jack smirks and aims his pistol up at the... thing. Too many damn things in this place, well, this would make one less. He wastes no time and fires his pistol before it gets away.
Question: How does range factor in?

For your gun, it doesn't.

Alright, so I won't worry about it.
Full 8 die shot at the thing.
Roll:
1,5,4,5,3,8,10,8 vs ATN 7 = 3 successes
That is 9 total damage.
2d6 = 1,3 1d6 = 1

The bullet hardly phases it, breaking the skin near what looks to be a leg. It continues it's decent. Stephan starts backing up slowly, then breaks into an all out run after Eric.

Seeing his ineffectiveness, Jack follows his fellows in their run
"I guess I shoulda spent more time at the range."

Eric stops just long enough to turn back and yell "Don't just stand there, come on!" at Jack as he reaches the clinic door. It's a big metal double-door, but there's a large window nearby.
A bit too hyped on monster-triggered adrenaline to want to see if the door is locked, Eric goes straight for the more decisive action - he quickly pulls his sleeve forwards over his hand a bit, then steps to the side and smashes the window with his toolbox. Not wanting to waste any more time, he just climbs straight through without making sure it's all clear, but luckily he isn't injured by the glass.
"Through here, hurry!"
