Starting Reach is Very Long (Halberd).
Lothar begins with a wicked 8 dice (4 from stance, -1 from reach) swing at Gunnar's arms. Gunnar Full Evades for 10.
Both parties roll 6 successes, meaning no real result. Well, except all the spent dice.

Lothar swings to the legs for 4 dice - Gunnar tries a full evasion again, but he has all of 1 die.
Lothar hits with 2 net successes; which means he's won this bout. Congratulations.
Lothar knocks Gunnar to the floor with a staff strike to the ankles.
"Okay, that's the end of the that. Good fight, Lothar. Gunnar - we'll talk later. Next round is Longswords again."

Okay -
Enemy went into Aggro High Forward.
They both declared Aggressive, and made attacks to the head (Cut for Lothar, Thrust for Enemy) for 15 dice (Stance Increased to 20).
In the event of both declaring aggressive, you roll Reflex vs ATN. They both got three successes. Because it was a tie, we compare their Reflex scores, with those using Thrusts (Enemy) getting their effective Reflex for the comparison increased by one. Enemy had higher, so he hit first with 12 successes. Predictably, that was the end of the match.
"You two are lucky that was practice - In the real world stupid moves like that will probably kill BOTH of you if you make a habit of it. NEXT!"

Very sorry for the hold up - we ran this quite a few days ago, I just never got around to actually writing up the damn thing. [hollowsounding apology continues for another paragraph or so - excised due to lack of new or worthwhile content - ED]
The two fights after this were not very interesting in terms of rules, so they'll just get basic summaries -
Lothar and one of the Free Scholers did a quick knife fight - which consisted of Lothar landing a mostly inconsequential stab to the leg and then knocking the guy out with a left hook.
Then, Lothar and another one of the adversarys used the swords again - In this fight Lothar used the Maneuver "Twitching".
What twitching does, is one can declare "Twitch" alongside a swing attack (Cut or Bash) and then spend a secret number of dice - If the enemy succesfully PARRIES or BLOCKS (Not dodges) the attack , the following happens - If the number of secret Twitch dice is GREATER than the defender's total number of successes (NOT their margin), the attacker retains the initiative and gets all the Twitch dice AND the defender's successes back as bonus dice on his next move, which will automatically be a swing in the opposite direction, with the opposite side of the weapon (IE - Using a war hammer, if you originally swung with the hammer your Twitch swing would be with the Back-Spike.)
In the fight in question, Lothar swung down, successfully twitched off a parry, and thus launched an *18 die* upward swing against a 7 die full evade. So, that was the end of that.
The final fight was where things got really interesting - Lothar took on an opponent in a Mano-a-Mano grappling challenge.
Long-time readers of the Riddle of Steel series may recall the Grappling that took place in the fight between Daril and a Xanarian Crusader. Namely, you may recall it was utter boring shit and took like 5 pages of identical rolls before anything actually changed enough for a hit to be made. Luckily, this time we're using the better wrestling rules.
The two fighters circled for two rounds before there was any action - shifting stances in response to eachother's shifted stances in response to eachother's shifted stances without being willling to rush in and fight.
Eventually, Lothar charged in at his opponent and declared the Grapple maneuver - Now, at this point, his opponent could have tried to defend as normal, or to try and hit Lothar as he moved in, but instead he decided to defend using the Grapple maneuver - which lets him move in to grapple as well and attempt to gain the upper hand in the grappling rather than avoid it.
He succeeded the roll - meaning he got initiative into the grapple, and his MOS in Bonus Dice. He then had the following options - He can try to Trap his opponent's body parts (sapping his CP, and rendering parts of his body useless), try to Throw his enemy to the ground (inflicting injury and potentially beginning ground fighting), try to Break his enemies joints/bones (inflicting pretty nasty damage - much easier if you have the joint Trapped) or try to Strike his enemy with his body or a small melee weapon (Example - A knife in his eye). In this case, he tried to trap.
The defender has two options - attempt to Break Free (That is, attempt to escape the grapple) or attempt a Reversal, which basically functions like a counter, and lets you try to gain the advantage in the grapple from your enemy.
Over the next two exchanges, Enemy managed to Trap Lothar's Head and Torso - putting him at a SIGNIFICANT (-3/4CP, I treat that as "You get 1/4 of what you would otherwise have, not "You get 3/4 of your maximum subtracted from your pool". I'm not sure what the intention is.) CP disadvantage and basically preventing him from trying to move without breaking the Traps.
Then, he used a Throw to put Lothar on the floor - In a throw the attack has the option of trying to go down on top of their opponent (using their weight in inflict further injury), or trying to stay up. Staying up means you need a Knockdown roll to remain standing if the throw succeeds, and if you fail it you don't get the extra damage for going down on the enemy like if you deliberately fall with em. In this case, he (barely) succesfully remained standing when he put Lothar on the ground.
At this point, CP had just refreshed and enemy had a LOT whereas Lothar had all of 2 dice (-3/4CP from Trap, then -1/2 of THAT from being prone.). Enemy went for a kick to the throat will full dice, Lothar tried to beat him to the punch with a groin kick but wasn't fast enough to do anything more than annoy the guy after being "killed".
Looking over all the battles, Lothar managed a pretty even record against guys who were of the rank he was trying to get, so I think it's reasonable for him to get his fancy title.
The cumulative privledges + responsibilities of his titles are -
Rights - He has priority access to the training areas, instructors and equipment of the school. He can wear the school colors and insignia whenever he wishes to.
Responsibilities - He needs to pay dues (4 Gold per month - I wonder if he can make that much in the arena.). He needs to train the Novices and Scholers. He needs to accept reasonable challenges (It wouldn't do to have him make the school look like it's full of cowards by avoiding reasonable duels, after all.)
