The wind blew soft that day, as people gathered near the grassy knoll. The crowd below murmured as Ludwig Vonenstein started his slow walk up the grassy knoll to the top. On top of the hill, on a small table, lay the body of Daril Tanm with a patch over his now missing eye. On each corner of the table was a lit torch as a sign of respect for the brave warrior. Ludwig took his place behind the table."We are gathered here today due to the untimely demise of one Daril Tanm. He was a brave man, who never backed down from a challenge. He was a strong man, a good man. And, what few of you may know, a family man. I possess little knowledge of just why he came here to fight, but what I do know is he sent some of the money back to his family. I remember once, right before his match alongside Paer I was talking to him. He said to me, 'If I die here today, make sure this wealth gets to my family. I don't want to die for nothing.'"Ludwig holds up a coin pouch."And he won't die for nothing. This money is going to be sent back with him."Ludwig opens up the pouch and drops in six copper pennies and three shillings, then he unclasps his necklace and drops it in the bag, and puts his ring in as well."Anyone who would like to contribute any money to his family, leave it in the bag and it will go back to Fahal with him. Daril was a dear friend to me, he taught me well how to use a rapier and we've had our fair share of good times together. I only wish that he could have lived longer. Before the service here is concluded, anyone who wishes to may come up and see the body." Ludwig places one hand on Daril's lifeless shoulder and whispers to himself,"Goodbye, dear friend. May you rest well."A tear rolls down Ludwig's face as he begins walking down the knoll. Three men with horn's take his place, and start playing.
