Okay, now that we have seen basic combat, lets throw into the mix one of the more powerful things in the riddle of steel: Sorcery! For this, I call to the stage the Amaaaaazing Paer Tandri!
This fight will take place in the Stone Arena, all wounds are for full count, and Sean may assign prizes as he sees fit, assuming Paer survives.
Paer's opponnent will be:
Kolgar Chell, a brave warrior of the north!
Temporal: 4 (ST, AG, TO 5) Mental: 4 (Wit 5,Ma 3, Soc 2) Reflex: 5 Move: 7 CP: 10 (7 in his armor) Gear: Chain Shirt w/ sleeves (AV 4, Torso and Arms), Horned Helm (AV 6, Open Faced Helm), Leather pants (AV 2, Legs) Poleaxe (2h, Long, ATN 7, DTN 7, ST +3C damage, +( Unmodified Damage)shock, +2 Damage vs hard armor)
The fight will begin at 100 feet. Gentleman, to your marks, please.
Kolgar walks forwards, brandishing his massive axe."I will cut out your skull, and make it into a bowl! FOR SOUP!"

If he survives? I'd expect that from Sean or Trevor, but you KNOW how messed up magic is Paer steps forth out of the arena gates and drops a bag at his side, spilling the pebbles it contained across the ground. paer twiddles his fingers around, seeming bored. "You're more than welcome to try, though I doubt you are even intelligent enough to make soup."

And.... here.... we.... GO!
Kolgar Chell screams with fury, then charges forwards. He covers 7 yards this round, and is now 79 feet distant.

Okay, Paer is attempting to cast a spell.
He has formalized this particular spell lowering his TN by 2.
He further lowers it by providing a verbal component, making the TN 3. In order to get the lower TN, however, he must first make a ritual magic check. So he rolls 5 D10 against a TN of 10. He makes 1 success, which is all he needs.
Now, he needs to roll against a TN of 3 to prevent aging from magic usage, the amount you age in months is the TN of the spell minus your number of successes to avoid aging. Having a familiar(The cat) provides me with one auto-success to avoid aging. I have a sorcery pool of 13, I'm dividing the dice for 3 in anti-aging and 10 in the attack. I make all 3 saves to avoid aging, meaning I don't age at all(and wasted a dice >.<).
The other 10 are going into the attack on the onrushing Chell. I rolled 4; 7; 10; 3; 6; 6; 1; 3; 5; 5 meaning I have 9 successes.
Now, The GM says I should make an Ad Hoc Aim check gainst TN 6., I roll 5D10(5 because thats my aim attribute) against TN 6 and roll 6; 10; 2; 6; 7 giving me 4 successes.
Paer pulls out a book and starts reading from it, calling up his magical energy as he does so. "Sai Si Mylaer Shor O!" As he finished his cry that has brought death to many, he whips his hand forward towards Kolgar and several pebbles fly at the barbarian.

Okay, let's see what effect Paer's spell has!
I'll let Kolgar roll reflex against 9 (Paer's Spell Successes) + 4 (His aim sucesses) for TN 13 to dodge.
7, 2, 3, 7, 8. Good rolls, but none are 13 or higher.
Kolgar attempts to dive as he realises what Paer is doing, but the pebbles are crashing into him before he can react.
I'll roll on the Archery hit table to determine location of hit... 2. Head. Fun.
D6 of 4... Kolgar was hit in the face, just under the rim of his helm!
Paer's spell deals it's base CTN (6) plus his casting successes (9) points of damage. Reducing that by Kolgar's toughness, we have 10 levels of blunt-thrust to the face. OUCH.
With a sickening CRACK, the stones tear through Kolgar's head and the rear of his helm, digging about half a meter in to the far arena wall.
Looks like that wraps that up pretty nicely. Paging arena master on Aisle 4?

Paer smiles slightly."And still no challenge."Paer collects his pebbles and starts for the exit.

Okay, if there are no objections, I'm going to toss 5 silver shillings to Paer for that spectacular performance.

Well, RoS has a... Different EXP system. Basically, you gain points in your spiritual attributes (SAs from hear on in) whenever you roleplay in accordance with them. For example, if I have Passion: Hates Willam of Orange, and I attempt to track down and murder William of Orange, I would be gaining dice in Passion: Hates William of Orange along the way. These boost rolls (I would get benefits from how much I am burning inside to kill the guy when I am tracking him, or fighting him), and more importantly for advancement, can be burned off to improve things like skills and whatnot. So, I'm not sure how we'd rig this: Maybe a few Insight and SA's worth of upgrades per win?

The problem here, I had planned him as an NPC to demonstrate magic but then made him my PC. Thus, I designed him with no real spiritual attributes that would be possible to build off of.

That works, but it would depend on the difficulty. Like that last fight wasn't even a work out so like 1 or 2 points for that fight. So the more difficult the fight the more points awarded.

Okay. Done. Miles gets 2 insight and 2 Burnt SA Points, we'll call em, and he can redesign his SA's so he has something to work off of.

Yep, pretty hard to give a mage a challenge without using another mage. And even then, it just depends who attacks first. The only way I'll really be able to up Paer is by working on his rapier skills, which is suicide at this point.
